Choco-cat.

Happy Caturday!

A short and sweet post today. We’ve named Chocolat Ms Grumps because she is famously a typical Tortoiseshell with that whole ‘everything on my terms’ thing. She loves chin scratches and being stroked and the occasional hug but hates being kissed on the head or approached when she’s just not in the mood. She also sulks a lot, and is very vocal (Marmalade squeaks but looks like he’s roaring).

Apart from that, they have both settled in really well, so different now that they know this is their forever home (they are rescue cats, they came home with us in September). Marmalade has come out of his shell and is still a bit skittish/timid when it comes to loud noises and being picked up, but he loves tummy-rubs and is more than happy to curl up with you wherever you’re sitting.

“Name the different kinds of people,’ said Miss Lupescu. ‘Now.’
Bod thought for a moment. ‘The living,’ he said. ‘Er. The dead.’ He stopped. Then, ‘… Cats?’ he offered, uncertainly.”

– Neil Gaiman, The Graveyard Book.

  1. You did a good thing adopting such lovable creatures. Kitties are awesome, I just wish my SO agreed. Since I can’t have one, I vicariously appreciate other felines on the blogosphere.

    1. What a shame – there’s plenty of kitties to gaze upon in the blogosphere though 🙂 I would really recommend rescue centre cats to anyone, they came from the National Animal Welfare Trust in the UK so they were very well looked after – but only there for about two months before they came home with us.

      1. I brought a cat home with me when I lived in Phoenix. Lily was 30 pounds of black kitty that acted as much like a dog as a cat. She was full of love and was always ready to play. I couldn’t bring her with me to Seattle, so I found a family that needed buckets of furry love. I miss her very much, but I know she is brightening the lives of a family that needed it.
