Summer Knight

I just finished reading the 4th book of the Dresden Files – I’m really enjoying Jim Butcher’s series about Harry Dresden, a PI who just happens to be a Wizard, the only Wizard operating in the Chicago area. This book was about Faeries and involves Dresden trying to investigate the murder of the Summer Court’s Summer Knight, under the behest of the Winter Queen. Its definitely different to what I’m used to from Supernatural Urban Fantasy in a sense as the protagonist is a guy and a little bit old fashioned in his values. Its worth reading if you like your Harry Potter darker, adult and with some CSI type action.

I would also say that this series has grown on me – the first book was a little slow but eventually warmed up. The PI (Private/Personal Investigator) angle is brilliant and  reminds me of The Big Sleep and also Kim Harrison’s Rachel Morgan series.
