Captured Moments

It’s always interesting when you explore places with a camera. Not the usual tourist photos, but looking up, looking down, and seeing things in windows. Experiencing moments that may never come again. I’ve looked through some of my photos and chosen a handful of interesting things from places I’ve visited over the years – Amsterdam, Cardiff, Brooklyn, and New Orleans. Travel feels far away at the moment, being in lockdown, but maybe one day soon things will be better. In the meantime, I hope these photos inspire you to look more closely at the world around you.

Two ladies spied in a window in Amsterdam, February 2017.
A bronze statue of a man with a cat, Amsterdam, February 2017.
A view from Cardiff Castle, February 2018.
Carvings of birds inside the Victorian Bute House, Cardiff Castle, February 2018.
Double rainbow, January 2018.
A fresco of cats from the side of a Vets in New Orleans, September 2018.
Our Airbnb in Brooklyn in September 2018 had us looking after two cats!

It’s still a tense time for many of us, but I hope you get some time to just breathe, rest, and do something that fills your cup.

‘You do not have to be good.

You do not have to walk on your knees

for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.

You only have to let the soft animal of your body

love what it loves.’

– Wild Geese, Mary Oliver.
