Life has been getting on as usual, and our two other cats are doing okay. Georgina’s fur was matted so we had to take her to the vet for a lion shave (basically, everything except her legs, tail and head). She’s getting older so she can’t really groom herself as well as she used to, so we’re going to have to do it for her once all her fur grows back. Flossie is fine, she was so sad and we noticed that she had been crying (yes, cats can cry), but the past two weeks she’s been getting better and having her mad hour every day without fail. She goes loopy basically and runs around with big black pupils, scratching things up and dashing from one side of the room to the other.
I’ve been getting into volunteering at the library every week, and I’m enjoying it so far. I’ve been putting my database skills into action by cataloguing books that have been preserved and mended. I’ve also been checking the library catalogue against a list to check whether the library has certain books and so on. It’s just the start, but where I’m working is a very special place, so I may be able to talk further about it one day.
I’ve decided to do a 30 Days tag – an ongoing tag where I post about different things for 30 Days. This means I’ll be posting every day and not slacking up. Since Quentin died I’ve been feeling a bit blocked when it comes to writing and that lethargy has set in again, but I’m determined not to let it take over and win again, like it did before. He was a beautiful cat and had a long and happy life with us. So I’m not going to dwell on how hard it was to let him go – he deserved a painless death, and we got to say goodbye, even if it feels like there wasn’t enough time. There never is enough time and it makes me realise how precious time is with the people and animals you love. It is a cliché, but time really is precious, when you can get it.
So, the 30 Days tag is something I’ve seen in a few places, notably on Stephanie’s blog:
