Late Night Poetry #7: Love Letter To The Universe

Tree and Stars

This is my love letter to the universe.
How vast you are, how wondrous,
With your mountains, and your oceans, and your rivers.
How is it that every small, minuscule organism,
Every part of this planet,
Has a purpose?
When I look up at the sky,
I see the stars looking down, dream of planets,
Where gases and fire and moons create other ecosystems,
That I will never see up close.
The people around me are their own planets.
They have their own stars in their eyes,
Forests and wild gardens in their hearts,
Tiny, but inestimable constellations firing neurons in their brains.
I root for every plant and flower pushing themselves through the ground:
How much power it must take, yet how delicate and fragile.
I think of how people must be waking up as I go to sleep,
Halfway across this planet.
We are so unlike each other, yet so similar,
Part of the same family, yet cultures apart.
I am overwhelmed by both the goodness and the cruelty
By the wars and the floods, and the love and the art.
Something so vast is beyond my comprehension.
There is so much I will never know, and yet I still try to see
As much as I can with the time that is given to me.

I really, really loved these lines, but the whole poem is brilliant! Hope I could soon write so beautifully. Keep up with the good work!
