Top Ten Tuesday: Children’s Names!

Tumblr_lfmxxkbjdf1qzdiqvo1_500_largeIt’s time for another bookish Top Ten Tuesday, courtesy of the Broke and Bookish! This week it’s Top Ten Characters I’d Name My Children After. Which I actually haven’t thought about!

1. Alice from Alice in Wonderland – because my middle name is Alice and I think it’s a lovely and short name.

2. Elizabeth – I’m cheating on this since it’s my name, but I would love to name a child after Elizabeth Bennet, one of my favourite Austen heroines.

3. Orlando – from Virginia Woolf’s Orlando. Granted, a little odd, but it sounds sort of ‘hippie’!

4. Hermione – another extremely odd name from Harry Potter.

5. Emily – from Emily of New Moon, one of my favourite children’s book trilogy.

6. Scarlett – from Gone With the Wind…

7. Lyra – From Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials Trilogy.

8. Jasper – from the Twilight books – who needs Edward?

9. Sebastian – from Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh.

10. Atticus – from To Kill a Mockingbird.

  4. Great List! I’ve got Lyra and Sebastian too. Someone on this week’s list said “Aloysius” as in the teddy bear. Isn’t that awesome? Wish I’d thought of that!
